In 1873, Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss created the fabric that we know today as denim. This fabric was transformed into durable and sturdy work pants for men that did labour intensive jobs. In the early days, jeans were fitted with deep pockets and copper rivets to prevent rips. In modern times, we still have great usable pockets, but the rivets are now more for a style element rather than a structural piece. Denim has come a long way from its humble beginnings as work wear. Now denim clothing is the ultimate fashion staple that everyone should have in their wardrobe.
